Though only one game played into this spring season, it is shaping up to be exciting. My players even sense that something special is abound. We have 50% of the players returning from last season. The new players fit well into our system and have already contributed. We are 18 players deep, but the team elected to keep it low for more playing time and build character. We had some great pre-season scrimmages against my friend and former Coach Joseph Barbneckt, Over-30C and much admired Coach Bunny Sosa and his Open Division 8 team. Both teams have put us through the paces and I think we responded well.
Our first game, against FC Inferno was a very disappointing lost of 2-1, but the team responded well which shows me character and determination. Our second game was rained out. I look forward to having everyone available for maximum performance this March 9th.
My biggest thrill is standing back in the goal when the magic happens, the team hits on all cylinders with great passing, play development and communication between each other. To me that is the beauty of the game.
My personal goal is to out perform every keeper in our division and keep everyone thinking I am still in my 30's. My goal for the team is to make the play-offs and then really go into domination mode.
Our team, on Sundays live by one code;
Honor thy God,
Love thy woman,
and play soccer... Not always in that
order.
